ABSTRACT

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) mainly caused pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis through upper respiratory tract infection, which resulted in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and multiorgan damage of cardiovascular, nervous, digestive, and genitourinary systems. Although the virus test turned negative after the patient recovered, the damage to multiorgan caused by SARS-CoV-2 may irreversible. Therefore, the health status of the recovered patients has gradually become the focus of people's attention. Whether coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients can receive exercise rehabilitation training after discharge? and what's the basis? We try to analyze and answer these questions, will provide some ideas about the patients to develop a reasonable and effective exercise rehabilitation program.

ABSTRACT

Penicillium digitatum is the most common cause of postharvest decay in citrus fruits around the world. Previous studies revealed that the bZIP gene family plays crucial roles in development, stress adaptation, and pathogenicity in fungi. However, little is known about the bZIP genes in P. digitatum. In this study, we systematically identified the bZIP family in 23 Penicillium species and analyzed their evolutionary relationships. We found that gene loss and gene duplication shaped the evolution of the Penicillium bZIP family. P. digitatum experienced 3 bZIP gene loss events, but with no gene duplication. We subsequently characterized the biological functions of one important member, PdatfA in P. digitatum by constructing the deletion mutant. Results showed that ΔPdatfA exhibited a moderate growth defect, reduced pigmentation, and slightly increased resistance to fungicides iprodione and fludioxonil. However, ΔPdatfA displayed similar rot symptoms to that of the wild-type. The ΔPdatfA mycelia were not affected in response to oxidative stress while its conidia showed enhanced resistance due to the upregulation of catalases. Our results provide new insights into the evolution and functions of the bZIP gene family in Penicillium.

ABSTRACT

Various environmental issues and destructive disasters have driven the attention of renewable energy sources to an unprecedented level. Based on extreme shocks, this paper mainly examines the causal relations of oil and renewable energy markets from the perspectives of time and frequency domains. We find the causal relations of Wilder Hill Clean Energy index (NEX) and West Texas Intermediate oil futures nearly do not exist in normal shocks but mainly exist among the extreme shocks, especially during the long-term and short-term horizons. These results are robust considering alternative oil futures benchmark and alternative renewable energy stocks. Interestingly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we find that significant causal relations mainly exist among the extreme shocks of NEX and WTI, but the relations are weaker. Our paper aims to disclose new insights into oil and renewable energy stock markets, which are of vital importance to related enterprises, market participants, policy makers, and scholars.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the social environment of most laborers around the world and has profoundly affected people's ontological security and behavior choices. Among them, the migrant workers are one of the groups most affected by the pandemic. OBJECTIVE: This study explored the mechanism of the impact of the scarcity of ontological security caused by the pandemic on the risk-taking tendency of migrant workers in China through two studies. METHODS: This study adopts two experimental method, with 514 participants in the first study and 357 participants in the second study. RESULTS: The results show that the pandemic-induced scarcity perception of ontological security promotes their risk-taking tendency, and the migrant workers' cognitive reflection ability, sense of unfairness and expected benefits play a significant mediating role in this process. The scarcity perception of ontological security promotes migrant workers' risk-taking tendency by reducing the cognitive reflection ability, triggering the sense of unfairness and overstating expected benefits. CONCLUSIONS: The conclusion of this study can help migrant workers, enterprises and government to avoid potential workplace and social bad behavior.
